Long Islanders should expect a gray and chilly Sunday as tropical moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Ian brings precipitation and gusting winds to the region, according to the National Weather Service.
There is also a coastal flood advisory in effect Sunday for low-lying properties near the waterfront and shoreline. Up to one-half foot of inundation above ground level is expected. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible during the Sunday and Monday afternoon high tides, the weather service said. While the remnants of Hurricane Ian weaken, the region will continue to feel some lingering side effects with cloudy skies and winds expected until Tuesday.

Average temperatures for this time of year are in the high 60s. Winds will blow at about 20 mph, gusting up to 36 mph. Evening lows will dip to around 48 degrees, the weather service said. Monday morning could also be cloudy and rainy, with a high near 61 degrees, according to the weather service. Breezy conditions will continue through the day, with gusts up to 32 mph, forecasters said.

The sun will break through on Wednesday, with a high near 68 degrees, forecasters said. Temperatures will descend to about 52 degrees at night, with skies remaining mostly clear, they said. Mild temperatures continue Thursday, with the sun shining through the day as the thermometer reaches 71 degrees, dipping down to 54 at night, forecasters said.
