The 20th free update for Logic Pro is certainly a substantial one with a number of new and unexpected additions. Head below for more details…. There are well over enhancements in this particular update. We have broken down some of the more interesting additions below and you can expect in-depth coverage of just about everything as part of our Logic Pros series over the next few weeks.

It features a gorgeous, colorful interface with 14 different acoustic and synthetic reverb models. The ChromaVerb interface is easy to learn and use. The colorful spectrum visualization responds to both audio input and onscreen controls to provide useful feedback as you alter the settings. Above the visualization is a Damping EQ curve that controls which frequencies decay longer, and which fall off more quickly. This decay curve makes it easy to shape the reverb to perfectly fit vocals, pianos, guitars, or synthesizers.

This is a nice touch considering Apple has left most of the vintage emulation to third party companies and those can be very expensive. By the looks of it, these plugs were modeled after Neve and Pultec gear from back in the day.

Based on the old Camel Phat and Space plugs, these are certainly the kind of thing we usually only see from third parties. To erase any wrong notes, use the Pointer tool to select them and press backspace.

You can delete more than one note by holding down Shift and using the Pointer tool to draw around multiple notes to select them, and then pressing backspace. In the Step Editor you can link different consecutive lanes to each other to mimic the behaviour of a hi-hat. In the GM Drum Kit mapping, the hi-hat lanes for closed, open and pedal are linked so that inserting a note in any hi-hat lane automatically removes any notes at the same point in time in any of the linked lanes.

This is designed to mimic the fact that a drummer can only play one of those hi-hat strokes at a time. To link any two lanes together, first of all make sure that they are next to each other — you can move a lane by clicking on its header and dragging it up or down. Now go to the lane header and click on the dot just before the name, then go the lane above or beneath it and click on its dot. A blue line appears to indicate that the two lanes are now linked.

Another cool aspect of the Step Editor is its ability to display automation data alongside note data. This will embed your send automation into your drum parts region so that selecting the region will also select the automation events. With your drum beats region selected, return to the Step Editor such that it has focus, and from the Inspector, go to the Lane Set combo box. Now the Step Editor will display any notes in your drum beat and a lane for your send automation see Screen 3.

Click on the Send 1 lane and delete the existing send automation by holding down Shift to select the range of events and hitting backspace. Now experiment by drawing in send automation on different drum hits using the Pencil tool.

They are many different ways to program drums in Logic Pro X. Create a blank region and double-click on it to open the Piano Roll Editor. Scroll down to C1 and zoom in vertically until you can comfortably read the names of the different drum elements in the Note Grid. Drag out the Inspector on the left of the Piano Roll until you can comfortably read the Time Quantize and Velocity fields.

Set your left-click tool to the Brush tool and your Command-click tool to the Velocity tool see Screen 1 above. To input notes, simply click and drag inside the Note Grid so that the Brush tool creates a line of notes at the Time Quantize setting. To erase notes, click and drag the Brush tool over them; you will see that the pointer automatically turns into an eraser. To edit the velocity of the your hi-hats you can use the Velocity tool and click on a note and drag up or down to adjust this.

One of the main advantages of the Step Editor over the Piano Roll Editor is you can paint in both notes and their velocities at the same time. Draw in another blank region and go to the Step Editor. The Step Editor is made up of lanes, and a single lane represents a MIDI event type: usually Note or Controller, though as we will see later, you can also display automation events. Each step in a lane represents a MIDI event, and its value is displayed by the height of the vertical sliders.

Set your left-click tool to the Pointer tool and your Command-click tool to the Pencil tool. Using the options in the Lane Set combo box, you can create many different Lane Sets which can be switched to display different data.

Once you have input the notes, you can use the Pointer tool to tweak their velocities. I find it much easier to adjust velocities of a drum beat in the Step Editor than in the Piano Roll, as I can use the Pointer tool to click and drag multiple note velocities up and down, so as to experiment with where the accents may be placed. To erase any wrong notes, use the Pointer tool to select them and press backspace. Screen 3: Lane Sets can be configured to include both note and automation events. Here I have a Lane Set with Send 1 automation and the main drum elements all on one page.

In the Step Editor you can create your own custom Lane Sets with just the notes or controller events you wish to see. You will see a number of Logic presets, and one called Trap Door which is the current Lane Set you created in the earlier example.

Record a simple chord progression and then go to the Step Editor. To do this, go to the Lane Set menu, choose Rename and call it Modulation. If you were previously baffled by the Step Editor, hopefully this article has demystified its purpose, and now this powerful editor can become part of your core Logic Pro X workflow. Programme wonky drum beats by using different grid divisions and quantisation settings. Start by programming a basic eighth-note drum beat at 92 bpm. Create a new software instrument track and, from the Media Browser, load one of the Drum Kit Designer kits. For this example, I am using the Sunset Kit. Create a blank Region and double-click on it to open the Piano Roll editor. From the Tools menu set your logic pro x piano roll change grid free download to be the Pointer Tool useful for editing note positions and your Command-click prk the Brush Tool handy for жмите сюда drawing in hi-hat patterns.

This will set the divisions in the Piano Roll grid. Now draw in a simple kick and snare pattern — kick on beat one and three, snares on two and four. You can hear this and the rest of the examples by downloading the zip file in the right-hand sidebar or listening to the inline media players. In the Piano Roll, select all of ,ogic drum events and go across to the Time Quantise area and gradually move the Swing slider from 0 to As you move the slider, hear how it adjusts the eighth-note quantise from straight eighths towards a triplet feel.

There are other ways to introduce more of a triplet feel to your pattern that are worth taking some time to explore. For example, take the hi-hats and nudge them to the right until the second of each pair of hi-hats starts to line up with the third triplet of each beat Screen 2. Experiment with adding equally wonky kick cchange snare notes to embellish the pattern. The Purdie Shuffle has lotic of a half-time feel with a snare accent on beat three of each bar rather than two and frre. Since it dodnload half rill, you will want to wind your sequencer logic pro x piano roll change grid free download up to between and bpm.

Next, move every second hi-hat in a triplet group down to the snare lane. Select them all by clicking on the snare note then use the Velocity slider to set them all to a velocity of 1. Hit play and you should now hear a classic triplet hi-hat pattern with a snare ghost note on every gtid note in the frer. Now input the kick drum pattern and add the main snare on beat three of each bar to imply the half-time feel see Screen 3.

For a variation on this pattern copy the region and use the Eraser Tool to remove the ghost notes from the snare part. Hit play to audition the drum beat and you should now hear beat one and three of /48767.txt triplet pattern we were looking at earlier, but this time in the context of a half-time feel.

If you are feeling really adventurous, Logic also allows you to easily try out other subdivisions of time such as quintuplets and septuplets. This will allow logicc to input eighth-note quintuplets. Use piank Brush Tool to input a line of quintuplet hi-hats. If done correctly you should see 10 notes per bar. To do this go to the right hand edge of the region, hold down the Alt key, and click and drag the two bar region to the left to compress dosnload to one bar in length.

You should now have 20 notes per bar. From each quintuplet mute the second, third and fifth notes. Now, input a kick and snare part similar to the Purdie Shuffle but this time using the quintuplet division See Screen 4.

Now delete the previous kick and snare pattern but leave the quintuplet hi-hats in place. Loic time draw in a snare on beats 2 and 4. You trid now make downlload drum beat more interesting by adding further drum hits, by copying the hi-hat quintuplets onto the kick and snare lanes, taking care not to let the quintuplet нажмите чтобы увидеть больше slip see Screen 5.

Your drum logic pro x piano roll change grid free download should have a satisfying wonky feel. Logic also has a Time Quantise setting for septuplets 7-Tuplet and nontuplet 9-Tupletприведу ссылку logic pro x piano roll change grid free download are well worth playing with if you have the time.

You can also save your patterns as Groove Templates so you can quickly apply the lazy feel to other MIDI or audio parts. Select the region to which you wish to apply the quantisation, and from the Quantise menu choose your new template. Download 16 MB. Buy PDF version. Previous article Next article.
