The Opportunity of a Lifetime
NCDOT is hiring 4 apprentices to join our Integrated Transportation Mobility team!
You will gain real-world work experience and learning opportunities in this 12 month apprenticeship immersed in all aspects of transit systems and gaining hand\'s-on experience in public transportation operations. This program develops apprentices for a future in the NC public transportation industry.
You will use your analytic and communication skills to help advance integrated mobility for public transportation solutions. With this internship, you will be well-prepared to evaluate and stand out for your career in 21st-century public transportation.
The apprenticeship starts around May 15 and lasts for one year.

The Apprenticeship Challenge
You will:

- Participate in all aspects of public transportation services and spend time observing a general manager and the governing/advisory board as they carry out management and policy duties.
- Participate in data analytics and maintenance.
- Conduct service quality surveys.
- Collect and analyze service data (i.e., ridership, revenue, hours, and miles).
- Make revenue and expense estimates for the system’s short-range transportation plan.
- Complete independent research or a special project.
- Work on special projects based on the specific needs of the transit system and your interests and skills. Examples of projects include inventorying/organizing intel about bus stop locations for GIS implementation, data analysis for local area long-range transportation planning, and other studies involving market research or service productivity.
What you Bring

- An interest in public transportation or public service.
- A bachelor\'s degree earned between December 2021 and May 2022 from an NC College/University.
